Who We Are

NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association) is the only political, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization protecting and preserving the earned retirement benefits of all federal civilians (current, former, and retired Federal Government employees, including their spouses and survivors). Since 1921, NARFE has been a vital resource to the federal community by informing, educating, and guiding its members to answers needed on issues affecting retirement benefits such as COLA updates, premium conversion, Federal Employee Health Benefits, Life Insurance (FEHBP), Government Pension Offset (GPO)/Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP), and other national and state legislative issues.

Meets on the the 3rd Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at 8:15 A.M. at the Nansemond River Golf Club. Contact the club for directions (757) 539-7872.

The 56 Chapters of the Virginia Federation of Chapters (VFC) serve as volunteer advocates for the grassroots issues affecting senior citizens, in general, as well as its NARFE members, allowing NARFE to maintain a strong presence with the U.S. Congress and Virginia General Assembly. Also, Chapter members reach out into their local communities to assist as volunteers at local elections, libraries, hospitals, and other civic and social organizations. In addition, NARFE's charity of choice for 20 years is Alzheimer's Research and its members nationwide have contributed over $6 million.  Join or learn about NARFE at www.narfe.org.
