Scholarships
The Virginia Coalition for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (VCPEA) is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of scholarships to the 2026 Annual Conference.
The VCPEA conference scholarship is open to professionals in a variety of occupations in all areas of the Commonwealth who serve older Virginians and are interested in increasing their awareness of the issues of adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Professions include (but are not limited to):
- Adult Protective Services Workers
- Area Agency on Aging Staff
- Attorneys
- Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Program Staff
- Fire and EMS
- Law Enforcement Officers
- Long-Term Care Providers
- Medical Professionals
- Mental Health Professionals
- Social Workers
- Victim Witness Advocates
The 2026 VCPEA conference will be the 30th annual event and will be held in Virginia Beach from 12pm Wednesday, May 6th to 1pm Friday, May 8th.
Applications are encouraged from individuals in all areas of the Commonwealth who serve older Virginians.
Scholarship recipients will receive:
• Free registration to the 2026 VCPEA conference ($450 value)
• Reimbursement for two (2) nights lodging at host hotel, to be paid at the conclusion of the event, upon completion of the conference evaluations.
NOTE: Lodging reimbursement shall follow state guidelines. Overnight lodging is reimbursable only for travel over 50 miles from the individual's office or primary residence.
Conference scholarships will be open to:
• Virginia residents working in professions that serve older adults
• Preference will be given to applicants who qualify for one or more of the following categories:
first-time attendees
those working in rural areas of the state
those who can attest to a financial hardship
NOTE: You must obtain supervisor / manager approval to attend the conference prior to applying for the scholarship.

Applications are due no later than January 12, 2026.
